Online Associate degrees at Iowa Central Community College

Iowa Central Community College offers six affordable associate degree programs 100% online:

- Associate in Applied Science in Computer Networking Technology
- Associate in Applied Science in Criminal Justice
- Associate of Arts
- Associate of Professional Studies in Business
- Associate of Professional Studies in Health Care Administration
- Associate of Professional Studies in Human Services

Students can complete the eight-week courses from anywhere as long as they have internet access. No travel to campus is required. Full-time students take two courses at a time, so they graduate in about two years. Classes begin every month, which allows students to start earning their degrees at times convenient for them.

Associate of Arts

The Associate of Arts (AA) prepares students for entry-level positions in many industries or enrollment in four-year colleges or universities. It has 62 credit hours of courses in several subjects including composition, economics, history, psychology, science, and sociology.

Associate of Professional Studies (APS) in Business

The APS in Business prepares students for entry-level positions in business or acceptance into business administration programs at four-year institutions. Its curriculum has 67 credit hours of courses in accounting, biology, composition, economics, logistics, management, marketing, psychology, and other subjects.

Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Computer Networking Technology

The AAS in Computer Networking Technology trains students for information technology (IT) positions. It has 69 credit hours of coursework that emphasizes the following areas:

- Cisco Router Certification
- Configuration and Implementing Protocols
- Configuration and Maintenance of Networks
- Interconnecting Networks
- Internet Connections
- Internet Design
- Networks-Microsoft Windows

The program also prepares students for certifications in MSCE, MCSA, N+, Linux+, and A+ as well as Security + Certification. Upon receiving certification, graduates can expect to earn salaries starting at $60,000 to $70,000.

AAS in Criminal Justice

The AAS in Criminal Justice strengthens students' career potential in the criminal justice field. Its curriculum has 67 credit hours of courses in constitutional law, corrections, criminal investigation, forensic investigation, homeland security, social sciences, and other pertinent subjects.

Students gain the qualifications to work in law enforcement, corrections, judicial services, and forensics. They can choose from a variety of careers including the following:

- Ballistics Specialist
- Correctional Officer
- Crime Scene Technician
- Dispatcher
- Domestic Counselor
- Fingerprint Specialist
- Homeland Security Specialist
- Intelligence Analyst
- Parole Officer
- Polygraph Examiner

APS in Health Care Administration

The APS in Health Care Administration equips students with the skills to plan and direct health care delivery. It consists of 66 credit hours of courses about a variety of relevant topics including financial matters in health care, health care technology, legal issues in health care, medical terminology, and social problems.

APS in Human Services

The APS in Human Services prepares students for careers in social work. It has 67 credit hours of courses in several subjects including counseling theories, gerontology, human behavior, human services, and psychology. It also has two credit hours of field experience in which students apply classroom learning to real-world situations.

Students acquire the theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience to succeed in a variety of positions including the following:

- Admission Counselor
- Community Relations Officer
- Employment Counselor
- Fundraiser
- Group Home Attendant
- Human Services Caseworker
- Mental Health Aide
- Occupational Therapist
- Public Health Worker
- Social Service Aide

Financial aid

Costs for online programs at Iowa Central Community College include tuition and e-book rental. Students may pursue the following financial resources to pay for their education:

- Federal Pell Grant and Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant
- Federal Direct Subsidized Loan, Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan, and Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan

The admissions process for online programs includes these steps:

- Submit a free online application.
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Submit transcripts. (The college accepts transfer credits from regionally-accredited institutions.)
- Take placement tests.

Iowa Central Community College doesn't require ACT or SAT scores. However, students can submit verbal and math scores for these tests to receive help with choosing the appropriate English and Math courses.
